Blue have been making carrot cake, linking to their topic of food. They are using visuals – symbols and work systems – and having opportunity to communicate, make choices and become more independent. This follows from their learning about vegetables.
In this video, as well as learning life skills (using and mixing ingredients and measuring out sizes), pupils are also practicing other skills such as following instructions and regulating behaviour in a less formal setting where there is more noise. It is important that pupils are able to work in different environments.
The class are using visual and verbal instructions and working with a lot of independence at times.
